Here's a great recipe to celebrate all things Winter in Michigan that features Grand Traverse Distillery's Straight Bourbon (Traverse City, MI). Cozy up next to the fire snuggled in a warm blanket while sipping on this Pure Michigan twist on the classic Old Fashioned.
Cranberry Bourbon Old Fashioned
INGREDIENTS2 oz. Bourbon
1 oz. maple syrup
1 slice blood orange
2-3 droppers of cranberry bitters
1 blood orange or regular orange, sliced
INSTRUCTIONS
1 blood orange or regular orange, sliced
INSTRUCTIONS
Muddle orange wedge with the maple syrup and bitters. Remove the rind and add the bourbon. Add ice and stir well. Garnish with a dehydrated orange slice and a fresh sprig of rosemary. Here is a great way to add to the ambiance of a winter garnish with the added bonus of candied rosemary.
CANDIED ROSEMARY
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Gently run rosemary sprigs under a little water to dampen and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the rosemary with granulated sugar on all sides, making sure the rosemary is thoroughly coated in sugar. Allow to dry on the baking sheet for 1 hour. The rosemary can be made 1 day in advance and stored at room temperature.
